A brief chronology of the experience

  June 18

Miranda Paola Camp was brought into the world on 6/18/2005. She was born at 2 minutes past midnight (Friday night/Saturday morning). Birth weight was 8 lbs and 3.6 ounces and is 19.5 inches long

Vero had labor pains off and on thru the work day Friday the 17th, then at 7:30 pm they became sharper but the duration and frequency were erratic - the doctor advised that we wait until they came every 5 minutes and for two hours. About an hour later they became very sharp and much more frequent, so at 9:30 pm we called the doctor again and she advised we go to the hospital for a quick check to make sure all was ok .. Vero was admitted at 10:40 pm, was situated in delivery at 11:05 pm and Miranda was born 57 minutes later. (incidentally, this was also her grandmother Leija's birthday)

Miranda and Mom are doing just great !!

For dad, this was the best Father's day a man could imagine :))

As of this morning (6/22/05) she has been checked out by our pediatrician and is a very healthy (although very squirmy) little girl now at 7 lbs. 10 oz. (some settling occurred during delivery)

June 9 As of this morning at 9 a.m. Miranda is about 7 pounds. Her heartbeat is a strong 140 bpm. Veronica is 1.5 cm dilated - yikes !! Vero is looking terrific as usual and is still very ambulatory (and has even started 'nesting').
Sidenote: Miranda will be born at the North Austin Medical Center - at a date and time of her own choosing ;)

June 1 Ladies and gentlemen, please return your seatbacks and tray tables in their full upright position - we are on final approach ! Miranda is already in the head-down position, is engaged with the pelvis but there is no dilation as of yet. She is between 5 and 6 pounds and has a strong heartbeat at 142 bpm. Mom is looking terrific and Miranda is doing just great ! Thats my girls !

April 18 It was just this past weekend that we finally decided on the name, after narrowing it down to 3 or 4 names over the past months. Miranda is a strong name and means 'extraordinary'. Vero is having doctor's appointments every 3 weeks at this point. We will start Lamaze classes in early May so that we can 'learn to breathe' properly (I call it 'controlled gasping'). Anyway, Miranda is growing well and in the past two weeks has become extremely active as is evident by the 'morphing' of Vero's tummy from time to time. Dad (yipes !) is busy, in a controlled panic sort of way, painting and wallpapering Miranda's room and is making slow, but steady progress. We expect the room will be done by the time she graduates high school - including steel bars on the window to keep those ugly boy-humans away. The due date is still June 30.

January 31 Miranda Camp is now about 20 cm long and weighs approximately 10 oz !
Her heart rate is about 145 to 155 bpm.
The expected due date is June 30, but we have a feeling she will come when she wants to !

During the videos, the ultrasound moved very little, so you can pretty much tell she is
'doin the gumbo dance'.

Also you can very clearly see a strong little heartbeat and in one video (not captured here) we could actually see into her heart through the aorta, and see her heart valves working ..

The time running can be seen in the lower right corner of the videos and I make reference to those times often.
